A documented change of pitch, a familiar brand cue and conflicting privacy disclosures.
The product pitch has changed
Earlier catalog text promotes a Zoom-background library under ZMeet/ZWall labels. The current Apple listing promotes a cross-platform meeting organizer. Its 2.0 release notes explicitly announce the broader scope on 30 October 2026. The numeric app ID and Zoom-background bundle identifier remain.

E2 E5 E13 E14A warning sign of gradual repackaging after launch
This resembles the pattern highlighted in earlier App Scam DB investigations: an innocuous-looking utility builds a store presence before later updates adopt a broader, more brand-led paid offer. Here the evidence establishes repositioning, brand-confusion concerns and inconsistent privacy disclosures. The original submission and an intentional review bypass remain unverified.
App Scam DB assessment based on the documented sequence; earlier reporting is contextual.
E5 E9 E13 E14 E19The older Zoom camera icon is the relevant visual reference
The September 2022 guide shows the familiar white camera and right-facing lens on blue. Join preserves that combination, adds a diagonal arrow through the camera body and changes the proportions. App Scam DB assesses the overall presentation as borrowing recognition from Zoom’s older identity. The images are not pixel-identical; the current Zoom wordmark alone would miss this historical comparison.
Current Join original; dated historical Zoom reference; current official Zoom artwork.
E2 E5 E8 E18The privacy explanations do not line up
Apple displays Data Not Collected. The linked MAZ policy describes user information, automatic IP/device/usage collection, advertising/analytics partners and retention. It includes an explicit mobile-app section, not just website-cookie wording. The publisher leaves buyers to determine which account applies to this app.
Apple privacy label and the complete linked policy.
E2 E9Six products share one verified Apple account
Every app in the reproduced portfolio resolves to developer ID 1863971071 and the same support-site identifier. This is a confirmed account-level connection. No independently verified second developer account or business country emerged from the checked identifiers.

E6 E7 E17Monthly and yearly plans have the same displayed price.
US: monthly $9.99, yearly $9.99, lifetime $19.99. DE/IE: monthly €9.99, yearly €9.99, lifetime €22.99. Twelve monthly payments would total $119.88 or €119.88 if prices stayed unchanged, compared with the separately listed yearly offer. Equal feature entitlements were not verified. No weekly plan is listed for this app and no purchase was made.

A Google Sites legal hub shared by six apps
The listing links to MAZ privacy, terms and contact pages hosted on Google Sites. The root also serves privacy text, and the contact page provides a support route. The privacy and terms repeatedly use a generic APP placeholder instead of explaining this meeting product. The same hub appears across the six verified apps.

Open the recorded developer website ↗Before and after: what the public record supports
The earlier public-catalog text is set beside the current Apple record below. The reliable dated change is Apple’s version 2.0 release. Catalog version dates do not establish the exact rename date; catalog fields can refresh separately.
The older name and product emphasis survive in indexed catalog text. Earlier image files were not recovered; the available icon and promotional imagery belong to the current listing.

The historical icon comparison and its dated source
A comparison only with Zoom’s current wordmark overlooks its older, widely recognized video-camera design. The 2022 installation guide supplies a dated example of that older icon. Join’s additional arrow does not remove the shared blue-and-white camera cue.
App Scam DB assesses this resemblance alongside the Zoom-background origins, current meeting-platform promotion and independent seller identity. The historical reference belongs to Zoom; it does not establish what Join’s own icon looked like at launch.

“Data Not Collected” versus a broad collection policy
The store label makes a clear promise. The linked document’s app-specific portion describes automatic device, IP, operating-system and usage information, possible advertising/analytics sharing, user-provided information and retention that can extend to 24 months. The generic APP placeholder remains throughout.
This is a disclosure conflict requiring clarification. The policy may be an overbroad template, or the label may fail to describe applicable collection. The app was not installed and no traffic was inspected, so these documents do not prove that any specific data was transmitted.

E2; E9.
The developer’s six-app portfolio
Muhammad Abdullah Zahid is the seller recorded by Apple. All six app records share artist ID 1863971071, and all six descriptions link the same MAZ Google Sites legal/support hub. These exact identifiers document one account; a shared first or last name would not.
The Excel converter titles contain the Excel brand and a registered-trademark symbol. That presentation merits a rights/affiliation check; compatibility utilities are not automatically counterfeit. No permissions decision or separate misconduct finding was obtained for these five related apps.

What is established about the publisher
The account, seller name, six app IDs, shared MAZ copyright and common support hub are directly linked by Apple’s own records. No company registration or separately identified legal entity was established from the checked pages. The Google Sites contact page is a working support route, but the root and privacy pages do not provide a substantive product/company presentation.
Germany and Ireland both display non-trader statements and no declared business country. Professional profiles with the same name cannot establish the seller’s location or employment without an independent identifier bridge. No corroborated second Apple account was found.
| Connection | Evidence | Assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Six Apple apps | Same artist ID 1863971071 | Confirmed same account |
| MAZ support/legal site | Same URL identifier in all six descriptions | Confirmed shared support infrastructure |
| Second developer account | No independent identifier match established | Not established |
| Country/company | No trader country or account-linked registry entity obtained | Unknown |

Why this raises the staged-rebranding concern
The pattern at issue is an apparently innocuous utility being turned into a more aggressively marketed paid app after it has established an App Store presence. App Scam DB regards Join’s change of pitch, older-Zoom visual cues and unresolved privacy disclosure as warning signs of that pattern. The earlier catalog already advertised Zoom joining and scheduling, so the evidence does not show a background-only app suddenly acquiring every meeting feature.
The current listing expressly disclaims affiliation with Zoom, Microsoft and Google. A disclaimer does not itself grant permission to imitate a brand or resolve misleading presentation. Compatibility references can be legitimate; the full presentation and any permissions require assessment.
Apple’s version 2.0 notes openly announce the expanded scope. Without the original submission, a dated launch capture or an Apple decision, it is not established that this developer deliberately fooled App Review or that the app itself is proven fraud. The scam-development pattern is an editorial concern, not a verified enforcement finding against this seller.

App first released
Apple records the first release for app 6758665793. Its original launch name/icon were not independently recovered.
ZMeet heading / ZWall description
Secondary catalog text emphasizes a Zoom-background library. Its version-update label is not a verified capture or rename date.
Version 1.4
Apple dates this release. An indexed exact-ID catalog retains a Zoom/background-focused description, but its fields may have refreshed at different times.
Version 2.0 broadens the pitch
Apple release notes announce multi-platform meetings, calendar, reminders and a refreshed dashboard.

The complete supplied 14-page analysis follows the written investigation, including the US/IE captures and its three-page privacy appendix. The full linked policy was separately read. Original source checksum independently calculated; the raw ZIP referenced inside the source analysis was not supplied. Earlier-name evidence is secondary search-indexed catalog text, not a dated pre-change Apple screenshot. The original icon/screenshot history at launch remains unverified. No app installation, payment, login, traffic interception, developer contact or complaint submission was performed. The historical Zoom icon is sourced separately from a dated 2022 guide and is not represented as recovered Join launch artwork.
