Branding confusion warning · Branding changes

Claude branding. Third-party seller. Know what you’re buying.

The saved listings show a clear sequence: a generic study chatbot launches first, then switches to Claude/Anthropic wording, a coral icon and matching promotional images. This rebranding can confuse buyers about who is behind the app: Apple names Anam Shehzadi, with a declared provider address in Faisalabad, Pakistan, while the developer links to Google Sites.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The warning pattern: launch generic, then add recognizable branding.

Claude and Anthropic sell the message

The subtitle changed from “Use AI Chatbot as study helper” to “Built on Claude Api Anthropic”. The live US and German listings still use that wording. Our assessment: placing both recognizable names in this prominent position can mislead buyers about the publisher behind the app.

Generic launch, branded makeover

The 13 October snapshot shows “AI chatbot for Students”, a study-helper subtitle, a blue icon and dark screenshots. By 22 October, the same app ID had a new name, the subtitle “Built on Claude Api Anthropic”, a coral icon and coral screenshots carrying “Built on Claude api”. The warning is the combined shift in brand names, wording and visual presentation after launch. These records establish the sequence for this app; they do not establish a recurring pattern across other apps or prove that its colors were copied from an official design.

A provider address in Pakistan

Apple’s German provider disclosure names Anam Shehzadi, identifies the provider as a trader and lists Faisalabad, Pakistan as the address location. This is the provider’s declared location, not a verified nationality. The same provider and country appear in the saved Irish listing.

An API claim is not proof of affiliation

Anthropic provides API access to Claude models, so a third-party app can technically be built on Claude. This investigation has not tested whether this app actually uses that service. The documented concern is the risk of misleading brand association; the available evidence does not establish a fake API claim or confirmed fraud.

WHAT IT COSTS

Free to download. Paid subscriptions inside.

The saved listing offers subscriptions, including $5.99 per week in the US and €6.99 per week in Ireland. It says subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. These are advertised prices, not verified charges. Source: PDF pages 7 and 9.

A small weekly price becomes a much bigger bill.

The listing advertises $5.99 a week in the US and €6.99 a week in Ireland. At the same price for 52 weekly renewals, that adds up to $311.48 or €363.48. The saved listing also shows a yearly subscription at $49.99 or €59.99. These are different listed purchase options; the PDF does not establish that their benefits are identical.

Calculation: weekly price × 52. Assumes 52 renewals at an unchanged price, without cancellation. This is a cost comparison, not evidence of an actual charge or proof of fraud. Source: PDF pages 7 and 9.

THE DEVELOPER WEBSITE

A Google Sites page behind the branded app.

The developer website, privacy policy and terms URLs recorded in the dossier all use sites.google.com. Alongside the move from generic chatbot branding to Claude/Anthropic wording and a coral visual identity, this is another detail buyers should notice: the public-facing developer site is hosted on Google Sites rather than a dedicated developer domain. The URL establishes the platform, not whether the developer pays for any associated services, and hosting alone does not establish fraud.
