WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

A bigger brand in the name. A recurring charge underneath.

Instagram moves into the title

Version 1.0 was released on 5 October. The first preserved record, on 9 October, names it Gram AI Helper. On 23 October, the monitor recorded AI Helper for Instagram first in Ireland at 05:18:59 UTC, then in the US record at 06:00:29 UTC. The same app ID connects all three records. This repeats the sequence documented in our earlier chatbot investigation: an app is initially listed under a less explicit brand name, then adopts a recognizable third-party brand. We suspect this sequence may be used to get an initial listing through review before introducing more prominent third-party branding. The public records do not reveal Apple’s review history or establish that an update escaped review.

Dossier pages 1–3; three supplied record.json files.

A disclaimer is not permission

The description calls the app independent and denies affiliation, endorsement or sponsorship by Instagram or Meta. That statement does not grant trademark permission or automatically cure confusing branding. Our concern is the increased prominence of Instagram in the app name; Apple’s approval requirement remains relevant.

Dossier page 6; Apple guideline 4.1(c).

E1 E8

Weekly pricing, non-trader disclosure

The US listing offers $5.99 per week alongside a $39.99 yearly plan. The saved Irish listing names Zain Anwar and says the provider has not identified as a trader. These are material purchase details, not proof by themselves of fraud.

Dossier pages 3–4.

WHAT IT COSTS

$5.99 a week adds up to $311.48.

The saved listing is free to download and advertises four purchase options. Prices below are listing prices, not observed charges. The description says Apple handles billing, renewal and cancellation; no trial length or specific renewal deadline is recorded. Source: dossier pages 4 and 6.

52 weekly renewals cost about 7.8 times the US yearly option.

$5.99 × 52 = $311.48 in the US, compared with a listed $39.99 yearly plan (about 7.79 times as much). In Ireland, €6.99 × 52 = €363.48, compared with €44.99 yearly (about 8.08 times as much).

Assumes 52 weekly renewals at unchanged prices without cancellation. This is not a verified payment or exactly a 365-day year. The evidence does not establish identical benefits across the plans. Source: dossier page 4.

THE DEVELOPER WEBSITE

The developer’s policy pages use zaapps.fwh.is.

No Developer Website link is recorded in the saved App Store listing. The description links to terms, privacy and an EULA under zaapps.fwh.is. Those pages loaded during this review, identify Zain Anwar and describe an independent developer. They are general policies for the developer’s apps; the domain does not establish the amount paid for hosting.

The same sequence again: a possible review-evasion tactic.

Our earlier investigation documented a study chatbot changing its subtitle to prominently feature Claude and Anthropic after its initial listing. Here, Gram AI Helper becomes AI Helper for Instagram after launch. The common sequence is a less explicit brand name first, followed by more prominent use of another company’s brand.

Our assessment is that this sequence raises suspicion of an attempt to pass initial App Review before introducing more aggressive branding. A later name change alone does not prove that Apple’s review team was bypassed: we have no access to submission records, reviewer communications or internal approval decisions.

The cases share a documented sequence, not a demonstrated operator. Their visual evidence also differs: the earlier chatbot changed its icon and screenshots, while this app retained the same icon pixels and promotional images.

This report: dossier pages 1–3 and supplied archives. Earlier report: app ID 6817783881, snapshots dated 13 and 22 October 2026. Review-evasion motive is an editorial suspicion.

The saved Irish listing says non-trader.

Apple’s saved Irish disclosure identifies Zain Anwar as the provider and states that the provider has not identified as a trader for this app. Apple’s notice says EEA consumer rights do not apply to agreements with that provider. This report records Apple’s notice; it does not determine the provider’s legal classification or a buyer’s rights.

No provider address or country is supplied in this disclosure. Germany was checked separately but returned HTTP 429; no German disclosure or business location could be verified.

Dossier page 3; initial and later Irish records; live access log, 23 October 2026.

A disclaimer does not settle the trademark question.

The description presents the product as a companion offering captions, collages, carousel splitting, scripts and interface controls. It already mentioned Instagram before the name changed. This is a move of the brand into the title, not evidence that all brand references were added after launch.

The independence disclaimer is present in the initial and later records. It is evidence of what the developer says, not evidence of permission from Meta. Its presence does not automatically establish compliance, and these records do not prove the developer’s motive for including it.

For US trademark context, the USPTO explains infringement in terms of unauthorized use likely to confuse consumers about source or sponsorship. A legal finding depends on the particular use and evidence; no trademark ruling or permission agreement is supplied here.

USPTO trademark infringement guidance

Dossier pages 5–6; supplied records; USPTO guidance checked 23 October 2026.

The Apple rules this name change raises.

4.1(c) is the clearest review question: Apple requires approval to use another developer’s brand or product name in an app name. Instagram appears in this title; permission has not been established by the supplied evidence. The disclaimer does not itself supply that approval.

2.3/2.3.1 address accurate metadata and misleading marketing; 2.3.7 addresses attempts to game discovery with trademarked metadata. 4.1(b) addresses impersonation, while 5.2.1 addresses unauthorized protected material and misleading representations. These provisions warrant assessment against the actual presentation and any permissions.

5.6 addresses manipulative, misleading or fraudulent conduct. The weekly/yearly price gap and non-trader disclosure deserve scrutiny, but do not alone prove such conduct. The supplied complaint asks Apple to review the case; no Apple enforcement decision is documented.

CHECK THE SOURCES

The records behind this report.

Based on the full six-page dossier and three supplied ZIPs, with original captures, record JSON, listing HTML and images. All included ZIP files pass their supplied SHA-256 manifests; the three separately named snapshot PDFs are absent, so their checksums below are transcribed rather than independently verified. Live US, IE and DE App Store requests returned HTTP 429 during this review; the provider finding is attributed to saved Irish evidence, not a fresh German check. Three supplied archive replays yielded readable listing HTML. Broader US/IE/DE archive-index requests returned a temporary-offline response; the legacy iTunes query returned no entries.
