The listing’s exact subtitle is “Build on Claude by Anthropic”. Its starburst-style icon reverses the familiar orange/light palette of official Claude and changes the rays. Alongside the developer display name CLAUDE C LTD and seller CLAUDE CAPITAL LTD, these choices create a substantial risk that a consumer will mistake the app for an Anthropic product. No explicit statement of independence from Anthropic was found in the retrieved app description.

Claude is not only a chatbot name. Anthropic officially describes Claude as its model family and calls its developer interface the Claude API. A third-party application can therefore truthfully use Claude models through an API. The mere phrase “built on Claude” is not proof of deception, and this investigation did not verify which model ASTRA 6 actually serves.

The concern is the combined branding and clarity of the seller relationship. Anthropic’s trademark guidelines address alterations to marks and representations that imply sponsorship or endorsement. API access would not, by itself, establish permission to imitate an icon or imply that the seller is Anthropic. No brand-use authorization or final infringement ruling was obtained.

The six advertised workspaces/screens below show ASTRA 6’s own productivity interface. A similar category or chatbot layout does not establish copied source code or a complete cloned application.

The UK trader and its China-resident controller

Both Germany and Ireland identify CLAUDE CAPITAL LTD as the app’s trader, with DUNS 235054516 and a London address. Companies House records an active company of the same legal name, number 17383254, incorporated on 5 August 2026. The street range on Apple includes the registered-office number, and the postcode matches. Apple does not display the company number, so the match rests on the exact legal name and corresponding address.

Companies House lists Jingxi Liu as the only active director and sole active person with significant control. The filed control categories are 75% or more of shares, 75% or more voting rights, and the right to appoint or remove directors. The registry states Chinese nationality and residence in China. Identity-verification requirements are recorded as complete. These filings identify the declared controller; Companies House also cautions that it does not check the accuracy of filed information.

The country recorded for this app is United Kingdom because that is the trader country Apple discloses. The director’s declared residence is China; the records do not establish that he personally lives or works in the UK. Nationality and country do not establish fraud, intent or the quality of the product. Date of birth is excluded as unnecessary to the investigation.

The exact officer appointments page returned only this company. No independently corroborated link to a separate developer account or another company under this officer identity was established.

A registered office does not establish a physical operating office

An address-services provider publicly offers registered-office and mail services at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. That provides a reason to avoid treating the address as proof that the developer physically operates from a dedicated London office.

This does not establish which service the company bought, whether it is a customer of that provider, or any connection to other businesses at the address. A shared registered office alone is insufficient to attribute multiple developer accounts to one operator. The company is recently incorporated and its first accounts are not yet due; absence of filed annual accounts is not treated as a compliance failure.

An own-domain website, but a generic AI data-flow explanation

The linked domain claudeltd.store hosts a functioning homepage, privacy policy, terms, contact and support pages. It describes Claude Ltd as an independent software studio. This is an own-domain website, not a free Google Sites page. The retrieved page bodies did not supply an app-specific explanation of an Anthropic relationship or a clear legal-name/company-number presentation.

The privacy policy and terms carry an effective date of 31 August 2026. RDAP records the domain’s creation on the same date. That alignment provides chronology, not proof of the operator’s identity. Common hosting, registrar and nameservers do not connect unrelated sellers.

The ASTRA 6 description says files and OCR are processed on the Mac, while extracted text is sent. The original Summarizer promotion repeats that distinction. The privacy policy primarily addresses support information, platform providers and conditional app practices; it does not clearly identify an AI inference recipient or explain retention of prompts and extracted document text.

Apple’s label says Data Not Collected. Off-device transmission does not automatically contradict that label: Apple distinguishes retained collection from real-time-only processing, and some optional support practices have disclosure exceptions. The documented issue is an unresolved explanation of this app’s data flow, rather than a proven false privacy label. No runtime network traffic or in-app notice was inspected.

The terms refer to the jurisdiction where Claude Ltd is incorporated. They do not contain an unfilled [COUNTRY] placeholder in the retrieved body. The linked business-domain support email is a contact route, not evidence of operator location; no contact was made.

A direct portfolio connection and an older VLC-branded indexed title

Apple developer account 6807387994 currently lists two apps: ASTRA 6 and Video Player & Guitar Vocoder, app 6810129788. The latter has bundle guitar.vocoder, seller CLAUDE CAPITAL LTD and the same privacy-policy domain. Its German provider panel repeats the same trader identity. These are direct common-account links.

The current related app uses a purple equalizer-style icon and advertises local video/audio playback and a vocoder. It does not currently display a VLC cone icon. Search-indexed Apple and AppAgg results associate the same numeric app ID with the earlier title VLC Media Player for Desktop. The discrepancy merits historical follow-up, but an indexed title is not a verified dated replay or proof of why a rename occurred.

Exact company-name, director, domain and contact searches, together with comparisons against prior local case sources, did not establish control of a different Apple developer account. There is no documented prior account termination or intentional review circumvention in the materials obtained for this case.

What the history and rules support

Apple lookup dates ASTRA 6’s first release to 11 September 2026 and the current version to 22 September 2026. Company incorporation predates that release; domain registration and legal-page effective dates fall between them. These dates do not establish when the Apple developer account was created.

Wayback index queries covered the supplied URL, alternative storefront/slug combinations, the exact app ID, legacy iTunes paths, the website and the related player. No usable replay was obtained. A neutral launch followed by a Claude-themed transformation, a prior ban and replacement-account ownership were not established.

Apple’s accurate-metadata rules 2.3 and 2.3.7, copycat rule 4.1 and intellectual-property rule 5.2.1 are relevant to the combined icon, subtitle and seller presentation. Privacy rule 5.1.1 is relevant to the clarity of the extracted-text processing disclosure. These are grounds for a review request, not an Apple enforcement decision or a legal conclusion that fraud or trademark infringement has been proved.
